Pub giant JD Wetherspoon has issued a clear reminder of its core customer policies ahead of the bustling Christmas season. The chain aims to ensure a secure and welcoming atmosphere for families across its UK establishments by enforcing a set of regulations.
Key Policies for a Family-Friendly Atmosphere
The reiterated rules cover several important areas. A basic dress code requires all customers to remain fully clothed, including wearing shirts and footwear at all times. Furthermore, any visible slogans on clothing or tattoos must not cause offence to staff or other patrons to preserve the intended environment.
In a move to guarantee comfort and safety, the company maintains a firm ban on all animals inside its pubs, including in gardens and car parks. The sole exception is for fully trained guide or assistance dogs from accredited organisations. Notably, emotional support animals are not permitted under this policy.
Rules for Young Visitors and Zero-Tolerance Conduct
Regulations concerning under-18s can differ by location, but a key national rule is that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout their visit. While 16 and 17-year-olds may visit alone to purchase food and non-alcoholic drinks, they are strictly prohibited from consuming any alcohol, including beverages with low alcohol content.
Wetherspoon operates a zero-tolerance stance on abusive, harassing, or illegal behaviour directed at its team members or other customers. To safeguard the working environment, management retains the right to refuse entry or service to any individual without being obliged to give a specific reason.
Strict Guidelines on Vaping and Smoking
The use of electronic cigarettes and vaporisers is strictly prohibited inside all Wetherspoon pubs and hotel rooms, as well as in most external areas. Patrons who wish to vape must do so only in the designated outdoor smoking areas that are also used for traditional tobacco products.
By clarifying these policies during the busy festive period, the pub chain seeks to manage expectations and maintain order, ensuring its venues remain accessible and enjoyable for the wide range of customers they serve.
