Alton Towers Unveils World's First Bluey-Themed Rollercoaster

Alton Towers Resort has officially revealed the name and first look at the world's inaugural Bluey-themed rollercoaster, set to open in CBeebies Land later this year. The brand new attraction, which will launch this spring, has been christened Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!.

First Look at the Grannies' Chaotic Fun

The resort released initial images today, offering a tantalising glimpse of the coaster that replaces the former Postman Pat Ride, which closed last year. The visuals showcase Bluey and her younger sister Bingo riding the coaster while dressed as the mischievous Grannies Janet and Rita, characters from the beloved animated series.

Here Come the Grannies! references a fan-favourite episode from the multiple Emmy Award-winning show, where the sisters engage in playful dress-up. The Grannies are renowned for their chaotic antics, including erratic driving, energetic dance moves like "flossing," and general mayhem, which the ride promises to encapsulate.

Expanding the Bluey Experience

Alongside the new rollercoaster, Alton Towers is enhancing its Bluey offerings. The resort has announced plans to introduce additional Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel. This expansion complements existing experiences such as the popular meet-and-greet sessions with Mum (Chilli), Dad (Bandit), Bluey, and Bingo, as well as the live stage show within Big Fun Showtime.

Official Statements from Alton Towers and BBC Studios

Howard Ebison, vice president at Alton Towers Resort, expressed enthusiasm for the new attraction. "We can’t wait to welcome the mischievous and limitless energy of the Grannies to the resort when we open Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! this spring," he said. "Alongside even more bespoke Bluey-themed hotel rooms, we’re excited for fans to enjoy the new attraction and immerse themselves in the mayhem of the Grannies."

Natasha Spence, events director for live entertainment at BBC Studios, added: "We know that whenever the Grannies come out to play, it is a fan-favourite moment for those that love the show. We are excited that the energy of these much-loved characters is being brought to life in Bluey’s first-ever coaster at Alton Towers Resort – home to CBeebies Land."

Anticipated Launch and Further Details

This addition is set to further solidify Alton Towers' reputation as a premier destination for family-friendly entertainment, leveraging the global popularity of the Bluey franchise.
