Two engineering firms, AIM Engineering & Fabrication Group and Hescott Engineering Company, have collapsed into administration, resulting in the loss of 93 jobs. The sister companies, based in Falkirk and Larbert, Scotland, ceased operations on May 15, 2026, when administrators were appointed.
Administrators Appointed
Alistair McAlinden and James Dewar, partners at Interpath Advisory, were appointed as joint administrators. Operations have been halted, with 40 staff members gathered outside and told to remain at home.
Reasons for Collapse
In a statement, the administrators said: "In common with a number of other organisations operating across the building and construction supply chain, the companies had experienced challenging trading conditions in recent times, which were exacerbated by the loss of a major customer."
Mr McAlinden added: "These administrations come against a backdrop of sustained turbulence across the construction and engineering supply chain, where rising costs, tightening margins and the loss of key contracts have created acute financial strain. We recognise this is a particularly difficult time for the companies' workforce, and our thoughts are with all those who have been made redundant. Supporting them through the claims process and helping them access the assistance available will be our immediate priority."
Previous Collapse
This news follows the collapse of MTE Heat Treatment, a West Yorkshire-based company that specialised in treating industrial metals. Administrators were appointed on February 24, 2026, after 70 years in business. The latest available records show the company employed 38 people in 2024. Lee Van Lockwood and Gareth Harris of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP have been appointed as joint administrators. MTE Heat Treatment has not released a statement.
