A police investigation is underway after a stolen car was deliberately rammed into a property in Birmingham, causing a fire. The incident occurred on Cheapside in Deritend at around 4:00 AM on Tuesday, May 5.

West Midlands Police and fire crews responded to the scene. According to authorities, a white Toyota MPV was reversed into the shutters of a building believed to be the Jaguar Midlands bathroom showroom. Shortly after the impact, a fire broke out at the venue. Firefighters from West Midlands Fire Service attended and later left the scene in the hands of the police.

Police Investigation

Police have confirmed that the vehicle was stolen in the Birmingham area just hours before the ram raid. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries have been reported. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated: “We’re investigating after a fire at a property on Cheapside, Birmingham, at around 4am today. It’s believed a car was deliberately reversed into shutters at the property, before a fire broke out at the scene. We are working to establish the cause of the fire, but no one is believed to have been injured. Our enquiries have established that the car, a white Toyota MPV, had been stolen hours earlier in the Birmingham area.
