AI Furniture Finder Tracks Down Pinterest-Worthy Decor on a Budget

Shop Home Styles, a little-known website backed by Fuel Ventures, is using AI-powered visual search to help shoppers find Pinterest-worthy furniture and home decor without the hassle of endless scrolling. The platform allows users to upload any image—from Pinterest saves, Instagram posts, or camera roll photos—and instantly discover where to buy visually similar pieces.

How the AI Search Works

Gone are the days of vague keyword searches like 'green modular sofa' or 'wiggle lamp.' Instead, the AI analyzes details such as shape, material, color, and texture to match the uploaded image with products from over 100 furniture and homeware brands across the UK and US. Users can then browse and compare retailers in one place.

Founder Giedre Gabrenaite explained: "Consumers don't struggle because there aren't enough furniture options online. They struggle because finding the right one is still far too difficult. We built ShopHomeStyles to close the gap between inspiration and purchase, helping people discover the products they actually want, not just the products that happen to rank highest in search results."

Testing the Platform

As an avid home decor fan, I tested the platform myself. It's remarkably straightforward to navigate, and the results are impressive. Brands featured include Anthropologie, Wilko, Furniture123, Emma, Ruggable, Wolf and Badger, Living and Home, Secret Linen, Vonhaus, Dunelm, and Marks and Spencer, among others.

The search engine suggests comparable products to those in an uploaded photo, offering inspiration for subtly different design elements. No purchase is too large or small—it helps track down mugs, tableware, coasters, cushions, cutlery, kitchen storage bottles, and more.

Real Example: Finding a Budget Bedspread

I had been searching for an alternative to my dream Oliver Bonas bedspread (the Patchwork Star Multicolour Velvet Quilt), which retails at £165 RRP—a purchase I'm not quite ready to justify. Uploading an inspiration image from Pinterest, Shop Home Styles presented me with a variety of options, some exceeding this price—the Iluka Printed Quilted Bedspread from Anthropologie at £148, the Glassette Stella Quilted 100% Cotton Bedspread from Secret Linen at £149 (reduced to £119.20)—and others far more budget-friendly.

Among them was the Catherine Lansfield Autumn Patchwork Geometric Bedspread from Dunelm, priced at £35, featuring a comparable geometric design with green and orange accents. It also directed me to Anthropologie's £78 Two-Way Printed Quilted Throw Blanket, with a playful checkered pattern in blue, pink, green, and cream hues.

Refining Search Results

The website enables users to refine search results after uploading an image by selecting brands, setting a price limit, and choosing colorways. One personal suggestion for improvement would be the inclusion of more affordable UK-based brands like Oliver Bonas, H&M Home, Dusk, Habitat, and La Redoute, rather than solely premium options.

For shoppers without a specific inspiration image, the site offers straightforward browsing by category—from rooms to individual items like lights, snuggle chairs, and bedspreads. This is comparable to Wayfair, which stocks products from B&M, Bedsure, Simba, Ninja, Le Creuset, and more.

Impact and Availability

Once users identify their ideal furniture piece on Shop Home Styles, they are redirected to the brand's website to complete the purchase. The platform aims to turn saved inspiration into reality, saving time and effort for interior design enthusiasts.
