Claire's Employee Reveals Store Reality After Chain Enters Administration

A Claire's employee has shared the stark reality of working at the popular chain following its recent fall into administration. The Birmingham-based retail giant, known for its appeal to teenagers, collapsed for the second time in just six months at the end of January, putting 154 shops and 1,355 staff members at risk across the UK.

Administration Impact on Birmingham Stores

'Closing down' signs have appeared in numerous Claire's branches nationwide, including key locations in Birmingham such as the New Street store and the Merry Hill centre. The future of the brand remains uncertain, with no clear resolution in sight as administrators take control.

One employee has been documenting their experience since the administration news broke, providing regular updates on social media. In footage shared on @claresbpl, the staff member noted: "As we reach the week four update regarding Claire's situation in Blackpool, there continues to be no news. However, some might say that no news is good news, suggesting that the absence of updates could indicate stability."

Deep Discounts and Clearance Sales

The employee revealed that significant discounts are now in effect at their branch. All hair accessories are being sold for just £2, while red sticker products have been reduced by 75 per cent. There is an additional 50 per cent reduction off these already discounted prices.

Green sticker merchandise is available at 50 per cent off, with another 50 per cent reduction applied to that price. According to reports, a substantial portion of products in the store are now priced around £2, with a three-for-two promotion applied to nearly all items.

Administration Details and Management

Philip Dakin, Benjamin Wiles and Janet Burt of Kroll Advisory Ltd were appointed Joint Administrators of CAUKI Limited, which trades as Claire's UK & Ireland, on January 26, 2026. The administrators are now managing the company's affairs, business and property.

The Joint Administrators act as agents of the Company and contract without personal liability. They are bound by the Insolvency Code of Ethics and are authorised by the Insolvency Practitioners Association. The situation continues to develop as stakeholders await further announcements about the chain's future.
