Morrisons Scraps Christmas Saver Stamp Scheme, Sparking Customer Outrage
Morrisons Axes Christmas Saver Stamps, Shoppers Furious

In a move that has sparked significant backlash, major UK supermarket chain Morrisons has announced the termination of its popular Christmas Saver Stamp scheme. The decision, which took effect from 31st December 2025, has left numerous shoppers feeling furious and let down, particularly those who depended on the initiative to budget for their December expenses.

Customer Reactions Flood Social Media

Following the announcement, disgruntled customers took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their frustrations. One angry shopper commented, "Why have you stopped the saving stamps? I used to buy them weekly to save up for the large Christmas shopping expedition, like so many customers." They added, "No worries, I will put the money away each month, choose where to spend it and not be tied to your supermarket #yourloss."

Another expressed disappointment, stating, "Disappointed to be told you are stopping saving stamps. So easy to save these for Christmas, buying a couple of stamps when I do my shop." A third customer highlighted the broader impact, saying, "Morrisons are finishing the savers stamps. This is such a shame as they are a good way of many families saving for their Christmas food."

Morrisons' Official Statement and Strategic Shift

Morrisons issued a statement explaining the rationale behind the decision. The supermarket giant said, "After careful consideration, we made the decision to close the Morrisons Christmas Saver Stamp scheme from the 31st December 2025." The company emphasised that this change is part of a strategic shift to enhance the overall More Card experience. Specifically, Morrisons aims to focus on improving the range of personalised offers available to customers through its digital loyalty programme.

Transition to Digital Alternatives

For customers who participated in the scheme, Morrisons has outlined the process for receiving Christmas Saver vouchers under the new system. To obtain these vouchers, individuals must first set their preferences to either load to card or send via e-code. If the 'load to card' option is selected, Christmas Saver vouchers will be automatically added to the account after 31st October.

Alternatively, those who opt for e-code delivery will receive their vouchers via email for online use. It is important to note that digital Christmas Saver stamps are linked to a registered Morrisons More account. Customers can sign up for a More account through the supermarket's official website. Having a digital More account is essential to view the total stamps accumulated and redeem them effectively.

This transition marks a significant change in how Morrisons manages its loyalty incentives, moving away from traditional stamp-based savings towards a more integrated digital approach. However, the abrupt end to the long-standing scheme has clearly upset a loyal customer base, raising questions about the balance between innovation and consumer satisfaction in the competitive retail landscape.
