Morrisons Slashes Prices on 1,000+ Items in Christmas Cost-of-Living Rescue
Morrisons cuts prices to help shoppers save Christmas

In a significant move to support households facing financial pressure, Morrisons has launched a sweeping price reduction campaign targeting over 1,000 essential products just in time for the festive season.

Substantial Savings Across Christmas Staples

The Bradford-based supermarket chain has implemented permanent price reductions on a wide range of items that typically feature heavily in Christmas celebrations. The cuts represent a strategic effort to ease the burden on customers during what promises to be an expensive winter period.

Key reductions include:

  • Morrisons British semi-skimmed milk (4 pints) now £1.55, down from £1.60
  • Morrisons white potatoes (2.5kg) reduced to 95p from £1.09
  • Essential carrots (1kg) now 39p, previously 45p
  • Morrisons white bread (800g) cut to 75p from 85p
  • Morrisons mild cheddar (400g) now £3.50, down from £3.75

Strategic Response to Economic Pressures

Rachel Eyre, Morrisons Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting customers through challenging economic times. "We know this Christmas will be another tough one for many families," she stated.

"That's why we're cutting and locking the price of over a thousand products, including many festive favourites, to help our customers manage their budgets."

Building on Previous Price Initiatives

This latest announcement follows Morrisons' ongoing 'Price Drop' campaign, which has already seen reductions on more than 500 staple items throughout the year. The supermarket has demonstrated a consistent focus on affordability while maintaining quality standards.

The timing of these cuts is particularly strategic, coming as households begin their Christmas shopping and face increased energy costs alongside rising food prices.

What This Means for Shoppers

The price reductions are already in effect across all Morrisons stores nationwide and will remain in place throughout the festive period. Customers can expect to see clear shelf-edge labelling highlighting the savings.

This initiative represents one of the most significant pre-Christmas price interventions from a major UK supermarket this year, potentially setting a precedent for other retailers to follow as consumers grapple with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
