Morrisons Expands Loyalty Scheme with Expedia Travel Partnership
Morrisons Launches Travel Perk with Expedia

Supermarket giant Morrisons has significantly expanded its customer loyalty programme through a strategic new partnership with global travel brand Expedia. The collaboration marks the official launch of Morrisons Travel, a comprehensive booking platform now accessible through both the Morrisons website and the dedicated More mobile application.

A New Frontier for Loyalty Rewards

This innovative initiative represents a major enhancement to the existing More Card ecosystem. Cardholders now gain privileged access to an extensive portfolio of over 900,000 properties across the globe, alongside comprehensive travel services including flight bookings, vehicle rentals, organised tours, and various leisure activities.

Earning Points on Travel Expenditure

The most compelling aspect for regular Morrisons shoppers is the integrated points-earning mechanism. Customers will accumulate ten More Points for every pound spent on qualifying travel components through the platform. This rewarding structure applies specifically to hotel reservations, car hire services, and activity bookings.

Important clarification: Flight purchases, while bookable through the service, do not currently contribute to points accumulation under this scheme. The earning initiative focuses squarely on accommodation, transportation rentals, and experiential travel elements.

Points Processing Timeline

The points collection process follows a clear, structured timeline. Initially, after confirming a booking, the corresponding points will appear within the More app with a pending status. These points become fully vested and transfer to the member's primary account balance only after the completed travel experience, providing a post-trip reward.

Building Upon Existing Loyalty Foundations

This travel enhancement builds strategically upon the well-established More Card programme, which already rewards customers with five points for every pound spent in Morrisons stores, through online grocery channels, at participating Morrisons Daily convenience outlets, and via the Amazon groceries collaboration.

Additional earning opportunities remain available at Morrisons petrol stations. Upon accumulating 5,000 More Points, members receive a Morrisons Fiver voucher, equivalent to five pounds, redeemable against future shopping purchases.

Executive Perspective on the Launch

Jamie Winter, Director of Procurement at Morrisons, commented on the strategic development: "We're excited to be able to offer our customers even more reasons to shop at Morrisons with the launch of our new travel booking service, powered by Expedia Group. Customers can now book everything from flights to hotels through Morrisons while being rewarded through our More Card, once their trip is complete."

Winter further explained the customer-centric rationale: "This new service is designed to make life a little easier by offering more simple, good-value options in areas that really matter to our customers." The move positions Morrisons as a more versatile retail partner, extending its value proposition beyond traditional grocery shopping into the broader lifestyle and travel sectors.
