In a welcome boost for the festive season, Sainsbury's has announced a surprise offer giving shoppers the chance to earn £10 worth of free shopping. The supermarket giant revealed the promotion on its official Facebook page, detailing how customers can collect a significant points bonus through its popular Nectar loyalty scheme.
How To Claim Your Festive Bonus
Shoppers can scoop up to 1,000 Nectar points – equivalent to £10 – simply by completing five designated tasks within the Nectar app. The initiative, called the 'Count up to Christmas points boost', requires users to open the app, tap on the promotion, and join the challenge to participate.
The offer is valid on purchases made at Sainsbury's, both online and in-store, between 09:00 on 19th November 2025 and 23:59 on 16th December 2025. To earn the bonus points, participants must complete all five tasks shown in the Nectar app. It is crucial that your Nectar card is used in the same transaction in-store or is linked to your Sainsbury's online account at the time of purchase for the points to be awarded.
Important Terms and Store Expansion
Prospective participants should be aware that some exclusions apply, and delivery charges may be applicable for online orders. For full terms and conditions, users are directed to check the details within the Nectar app itself.
This festive promotion coincides with a period of significant expansion for the retailer. Commenting recently after the opening of a new store, Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Chief Property and Procurement Officer, stated: “We’re on a mission to ensure that great food is within reach for everyone, everywhere.”
He highlighted the company's largest investment in store expansion in over a decade, aimed at bringing more choice and quality to communities across the UK. This includes a new supermarket in Wynyard, which is set to open in time for the Christmas period.
A Welcome Boost For Shoppers
This points boost provides a timely opportunity for households to ease the financial pressure of the festive shop. With the deadline to join the challenge set for 23:59 on 16th December 2025, customers have several weeks to complete the tasks and convert their points into savings on Christmas groceries and gifts.
The store manager for the new Wynyard location, Peter Conwell, echoed the company's commitment, saying his team is dedicated to making good food “joyful, accessible and affordable for everyone, every day.” This Nectar points challenge is a direct reflection of that commitment, putting potential savings directly into the pockets of loyal customers during the most expensive time of the year.
