Sushi Tachi, a Hong Kong-based sushi chain, opens its doors today (Monday, July 20) in Birmingham's Grand Central shopping centre, marking its first Midlands location. The restaurant occupies Unit 38, formerly home to Fuel juice bar, which closed earlier this year but retains a presence in the Bullring.
UK Expansion Beyond London
The company already operates two restaurants in London serving traditional sushi platters. Birmingham and Leeds are the next cities on its expansion list, as Sushi Tachi continues its UK growth. In a statement online, Sushi Tachi wrote: "London, we love you, but it's time to take this show up the M40! We are incredibly hyped to announce that we are officially opening our first ever shop outside of the capital. On July 20, we're setting up home right in the heart of Birmingham at Grand Central! Whether you've been a fan from afar or are about to discover your new obsession, we can't wait to welcome you."
Other Grand Central Developments
Sushi Tachi is not the only new venue in Grand Central. On Link Street, a new brand called Ready Steady Make It has put up signage beside Warren James, reading: "Something exciting is baking." It describes itself as "a new baking experience event for friends, couples, parties and team days." Further details are expected soon.
