Intercity named official tech partner of Black Country Chamber

Birmingham-based technology firm Intercity has become the official technology partner of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s Business Club. The partnership will see Intercity support the chamber in delivering practical guidance to members navigating rapid technological change.

Intercity will offer expertise in cyber security, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, with a focus on helping organisations improve efficiency and resilience. The company already works with several major organisations in the region, including housing association WHG, YMCA Black Country Group, and EH Smith.

Deepening commitment to the Black Country

Charlie Blakemore, CEO of Intercity, said: "The Black Country is an incredibly important region for us. Not only is it geographically close to our headquarters, but it's also home to many of the organisations and sectors we work closely with every day, including housing, construction, charities, education, manufacturing and professional services."

Blakemore added: "This partnership with the chamber is a natural next step in deepening our commitment to the Black Country and ensuring local organisations have access to the expertise and support they need to thrive."

The partnership with the chamber recently helped Intercity secure a role as the official technology partner for Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

From gold member to official partner

Sean Jackson, head of membership at Black Country Chamber of Commerce, said: "Intercity believes that relationships, not just contracts, are what make partnerships and business networks really work, and this is reflected in its increased involvement with the chamber."

Jackson continued: "Since becoming a gold member in August 2024, it has embraced being an active part of our community, so extending this partnership to become the official technology partner for our business club made perfect sense."

Intercity has created 50 new jobs across the Midlands in the past 18 months.

Supporting business growth and networking

The Black Country Business Club is designed to help business leaders connect, collaborate and grow through focused networking and shared insight. Members also gain access to the BC WhatsApp Community, a new platform for generating referrals and building connections through the chamber.

Blakemore said: "Both Intercity and the chamber are committed to working together to help drive economic growth and ensuring we continue to invest in the communities that make the Black Country such a great place to live and work."
