Apple WatchOS 27 Update Makes Millions of Watches Obsolete
Apple WatchOS 27 Makes Millions of Watches Obsolete

Apple has made a million popular devices obsolete as users slam the "audacity" of the tech giant. Millions of watches will be unable to update to the new software.

WatchOS 27 Compatibility

The new watchOS 27 system includes SIRI AI, a new tap gesture to select a widget in the Smart Stack, and design elements throughout the system. However, according to Apple.com, it will only be compatible with several Apple Watch models: SE3, Series 9, 10, and 11, as well as the Ultra 2 and Ultra 3 watches. This means that Apple Watch SE, Series 6, 7, and 8 will become obsolete.

User Reactions

One Redditor fumed: "The audacity they have. The Ultra 1 is, I think, not older than like 3 years and they already stopped supporting it????"

Another added: "I think this is crazy. Hoping they hear the community response and change things but I wouldn’t hold my breath."

Another fumed: "I’m glad that this has been cleared up, so now let’s focus on the fact that the SE 2 will be dropped from support just a year after it was discontinued. Not quite as bad as when they dropped support for the Series 3 at the exact same time they discontinued it, but this is not the sort of software support that I expect from Apple."

Article continues below. "Apparently it can download watchOS 27. A bunch of people have gotten the update, which makes sense. If the ultra 2 is supported the series 9 should be too," another reasoned.

"Yeah this is awful! I buy apple because of longevity, not to be axed in a year or three. Will rethink buying one again now," another wrote.

Another said: "To the people saying that support isn’t dropped - that isn’t the point. The point is that when you buy an Apple product you’re paying a premium for a few reasons, and one of those reasons is that you’ll be on the software bleeding edge for many years. This breaks that relationship with the consumer."
