Belinda Neild has officially raised a cumulative total of £50,000 for Moya Cole Hospice. She reached the milestone on her 50th birthday during her latest fundraising charity walk for the hospice.
A Birthday Gift for the Hospice
Belinda laughed: “I thought, why not give £10 to the hospice rather than getting me a card. I would much rather people give to the hospice.” Her latest walk raised £1,500, adding to the £1,700 from the previous event.
Ultra Marathon Challenge
Belinda also ran the 10k and half marathon for the hospice at the Great Manchester Run. Last weekend, she completed her biggest challenge yet: a 100-mile Ultra Marathon from Northumberland to Edinburgh Castle. She said: “I’m trained well. Training with Salford Mets and Manchester Outdoor Fitness Heaton Park. I followed a plan. I did lots of trails, hills, speed and running back-to-back long runs over the weekends. I trained to run on tired legs as it is important for an Ultramarathon training.”
Running Through Grief
Belinda added: “Sadly, my dad, Roy died before Christmas Day, and it’s been tough but running has been helping with my grief. This run was an extra special one because I wanted to do it for him as well. He was always a supporter of Moya Cole and my fundraising.”
