Chellaston Women's Institute Hosts Free Lifesaving Skills Event
Chellaston Women's Institute (WI) is extending a warm invitation to the public for a free community event dedicated to teaching essential life-saving skills. This initiative is proudly held in support of the National Federation of WIs' impactful "Bystanders can be Lifesavers" campaign, aiming to empower residents with the confidence to act in emergencies.
Event Details and Schedule
The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, from 10am to 12pm at St Peter's Church Hall in Chellaston. Admission is completely free, making it accessible to all members of the community. Throughout the morning, attendees will benefit from hands-on CPR training and demonstrations provided by three key organisations: the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), the British Heart Foundation (BHF), and the local Guides.
Special Guests and Community Support
Adding to the significance of the occasion, the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, Phil and Celia Ingall, will be in attendance to show their support for this vital initiative. They will have the opportunity to meet with residents and engage in discussions about community safety and well-being.
Additional Activities and Fundraising
Beyond the life-saving training, the event promises a social and enjoyable morning for all ages. Free refreshments will be available for attendees, and a variety of activities are planned to keep children entertained. Visitors can also contribute to a worthy cause by participating in a fundraising raffle and purchasing handmade crochet red heart keyrings, with proceeds supporting the British Heart Foundation's ongoing efforts.
Community Impact and Engagement
A spokesperson for Chellaston WI highlighted that this event serves as a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together, fostering social connections while equipping individuals with crucial skills. "It's a chance to enjoy a morning out, learn something invaluable, and leave with the confidence to potentially save a life," they noted. This gathering underscores the WI's commitment to enhancing community resilience and promoting health awareness through collaborative efforts.
