Employees from Convex Insurance are preparing for a demanding 24-hour cycling challenge on June 13, 2026, to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The 'Coastal GB in a Day' Challenge
Around 60 cyclists will take part in the 'Coastal GB in a Day' challenge, collectively covering more than 7,120km – the equivalent distance from London to Mumbai – by cycling sections of the coastlines of England, Scotland and Wales. The challenge was created by Maidenhead-based employee Steve Perry as part of the company’s 'Dream Pitch' initiative, which supports staff in bringing ambitious ideas to life. The coastline has been divided into multiple routes, with pairs of cyclists riding approximately 132km sections towards each other.
Supporting Alzheimer's Research UK
The event supports Convex’s long-standing charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK, which has raised over £1.8m since 2020. Participants will complete their individual routes across the UK, with some incorporating personal elements along the way, from meeting friends to combining the ride with other activities.
Highlighting Teamwork and Dementia Research
Organisers say the challenge highlights both the scale of teamwork involved and the importance of supporting research into dementia, one of the UK’s biggest health challenges. The initiative is expected to raise further funds and awareness, while showcasing the positive impact of physical activity and community effort.
