Dudley couple aim to raise £5,895 for sight loss charity

Two Dudley paramedics are taking on a marathon and a mountain climb to raise £5,895 for The Beacon Centre, a charity supporting people living with sight loss.

Sadie Huntley-Love and Luke Huntley have set a fundraising target of £5,895—£1 for every metre of Mount Kilimanjaro’s elevation. Their first challenge is the Chester Marathon on Sunday, October 11, followed by a seven-day trek up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in January 2027.

Personal motivation for the challenge

Mr Huntley said: "The charity is particularly important to us because of family experiences with sight loss."

He added: "We wanted to combine two challenges that would push us personally while raising money for an organisation that supports people in our local community."

So far, the pair have raised more than £800. Donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/page/sadie-luke.

Fundraising evening in Pensnett

The couple are also holding a fundraising evening at Nines Social Club in Pensnett on Saturday, November 28. The event is open to everyone and will include live music from Highway and fundraising activities.

Mr Huntley said: "We hope to raise awareness of our challenge locally and encourage people to support us, by attending the event, making a donation or sharing our fundraising campaign."

Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children, available by messaging @sadieandluke on Instagram.
