NHS pharmacist opens aesthetics studio in Stourbridge

Amanda Hotston, a 36-year-old mother of two and NHS pharmacist, has opened Harmony Aesthetic Studio on Norton Road in Stourbridge. The studio, which she rents from Health Collective above Zoes Coffee and Cakes, offers dermal filler treatments, lip augmentation, botox and other aesthetic procedures.

A career move from behind the scenes to patient care

Hotston, who is married and has a three-year-old and a five-year-old, works three days a week as a pharmacist for the NHS in Oxford. She decided to branch out into aesthetics because she missed having face-to-face contact with patients.

“I have worked in the NHS for 12 years,” she said. “I manage four teams of pharmacists that work across the trust - so I wanted to do something which has direct contact with patients.”

Training and treatment philosophy

Hotston trained with Ian Felix at the Mariko Clinic in Stourbridge. She said she had been considering the move for several years but wanted to ensure she received the correct training first.

“I've wanted to do it for a few years now, but wanted to make sure I got the correct training,” she explained. “I've had a great response so far with lots of people messaging. I want to go down the route of offering treatments which are very natural and subtle.”

Future plans and contact details

In the future, Hotston is keen to offer medical treatments for headaches, frozen shoulders and excessive sweating. She is currently taking bookings for her aesthetic services.
