The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS) has revealed its chosen charity partner for 2026, selecting the Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS) for its vital, life-saving work across the county and wider region.
A Lifeline for the NHS
LEBBS is a team of dedicated volunteers who provide a critical, free-of-charge courier service for the NHS. They transport urgent medical supplies, including blood, plasma, and other essential items, to hospitals and healthcare providers throughout Lincolnshire and the East Midlands. Their role is crucial in time-sensitive emergencies where every second can impact patient outcomes.
Operating without any government or official NHS funding, the service is entirely dependent on public generosity. Donations and fundraising efforts are what keep their fleet of 11 motorbikes and seven cars on the road, ready to respond to calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Strengthening Community Bonds
The LAS runs its Charity of the Year initiative as a core part of its mission to support and strengthen local communities. The programme offers a selected charity the society's platform, including its flagship events, to amplify its voice, raise awareness, and generate essential funds.
This partnership aims to forge stronger connections between the county's agricultural sector and the essential emergency services that benefit all residents. For LEBBS, the collaboration presents a significant opportunity to highlight its indispensable role and secure the financial support needed to continue its operations.
Voices from the Partnership
Gordon Scott, fundraising manager at LEBBS, shared his enthusiasm: "We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen. This partnership gives us an incredible platform to raise awareness of the lifesaving work our volunteers do every day. With no government funding, every penny we raise helps keep our vehicles running and ensures we can continue supporting the NHS whenever needed."
Andrew Buckley, chair of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, explained the choice: "We are delighted to support Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes in 2026. Agriculture statistically has a high workplace accident record, and this voluntary service is vital for our community. Their commitment to helping the NHS and saving lives across our county is truly inspiring."
How to Support in 2026
Throughout the coming year, there will be numerous chances for the public to back LEBBS. The LAS will work closely with the charity to promote fundraising initiatives, which will include activities at the Lincolnshire Showground, dedicated donation drives, and awareness campaigns.
Every contribution, regardless of size, will directly help ensure these emergency transport vehicles remain operational, ready to answer the next urgent call from the NHS and play their part in saving lives.
