EasyJet confirms free under-seat cabin bag for all

EasyJet has confirmed that every passenger can bring one small under-seat cabin bag on board for free. The airline, which operates flights from Birmingham, states the bag can have a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm, including any handles and wheels.

Bag dimensions and weight rules

The bag must be stored under the seat in front of you. It can weigh up to 15kg, but EasyJet asks that passengers are able to lift and carry it themselves. The airline faces competition from Jet2, Ryanair, TUI and other carriers.

If you also want to bring a large cabin bag on board, it must have a maximum size of 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including any handles and wheels. Passengers have the option to book a large cabin bag for their flight. Every customer who books a large cabin bag also receives the benefit of Speedy Boarding.

Additional options for members and fare holders

EasyJet Plus members and customers who have booked an Inclusive Plus fare can bring a large cabin bag on board in addition to their small cabin bag, as part of their membership or fare benefits. The airline warns: “Please note that the maximum number of cabin bags available per person is two; one small cabin bag for all customers and one large cabin bag for customers if it’s included with their fare or membership benefits or where they have paid to add one to their booking.”

EasyJet also advises: “Remember - purchasing all your bags online is cheaper and will help you avoid paying bag fees at the airport and your cabin bags being placed in the hold.”

What items count as small cabin bags

The small cabin bag allowance includes items such as a small trolley case, handbag, rucksack and laptop bag, but passengers are reminded to check the dimensions. The bag must fit under the seat in front of you, with a maximum weight of 15kg, and you need to be able to lift and carry it yourself.
