Felsted School's Colour Run Raises £10k for Global Charities
Felsted Colour Run raises £10,000 for charity

Hundreds of students and staff from Felsted School transformed their campus into a vibrant spectacle of colour while raising a remarkable sum for charitable causes. The entire senior school community participated in the institution's traditional biannual Colour Run, creating a dazzling display of philanthropy and fun.

A Rainbow of Fundraising Success

More than 600 pupils, staff, and community members donned white t-shirts and sunglasses before taking on a 3km course around the north Essex campus. As participants ran laps, they were pelted with clouds of powder paint and confetti in what organisers described as one of the school's most anticipated events of the year.

Ben L and Mercedes RPL, members of the student-run charity team, expressed their enthusiasm: "The Colour Run is always brilliant because everyone gets involved, from Year 9 right up to Sixth Form. It's a chance to do something fun as a school, while also raising money for causes that make a real difference."

Celebrating Charity Partnerships

Following the energetic run, students enjoyed a 'paint party' on the school field before forming themselves into a star shape. This striking formation replicated the branding of the Sparkle Foundation and marked the 10th anniversary of the charity, which was founded by a former Felsted pupil to support children in Malawi.

Representatives from charity partners including Sparkle Malawi and Magic Bus attended to cheer on the participants. The event successfully raised over £10,000 through sponsorship, with funds allocated to multiple worthy causes both locally and internationally.

Where the Money Makes a Difference

The substantial funds raised will create impact across several areas:

  • Providing more than 100 meals for people in night shelters run by local charities Farleigh and CHESS, and by Felsted Mission in East London
  • Purchasing much-needed medical equipment for Essex Air Ambulance
  • Supporting Young Minds' 24-Hour Mental Health Hotline
  • Sponsoring the education of seven children in Uganda through Teach Uganda
  • Helping children in Dharavi, India through the charity Magic Bus

Revd. Nigel Little, Felsted's head of charities, commented on the school's philanthropic ethos: "'Making a difference' is a key element of life at Felsted and pupils aged four to 18 are continually involved in charity fundraising, while many also give up their time to volunteer for organisations benefiting people locally and around the world."

He added: "The school raises funds for our charity partners throughout the year and also engages with an outreach programme which involves sharing facilities and expertise with the community."

This colourful demonstration of community spirit and global awareness continues Felsted's long-standing tradition of combining joyful events with meaningful charitable work, proving that having fun and helping others can beautifully coexist.
