Lorraine Carey, a dedicated fundraiser from Lincolnshire who has raised more than £50,000 for Jerry Green Dog Rescue over the past 15 years, has been invited to attend this year's BBC Radio Lincolnshire Make a Difference Awards.
Recognition for Outstanding Commitment
Lorraine has been recognised for her outstanding commitment to supporting rescue dogs after being nominated by Jerry Green Dog Rescue in the awards, which celebrate people who have gone above and beyond to make a positive difference within their communities. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 17, at the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln, bringing together inspirational individuals from across the county whose dedication has had a lasting impact on the lives of others.
Fundraising Journey Since 2011
Lorraine's fundraising journey began in 2011 when she climbed Mont Blanc in aid of Jerry Green Dog Rescue. Since then, she has continued to take on increasingly demanding challenges, raising vital funds to help provide care, rehabilitation and second chances for dogs who need a fresh start, whether because their owners have made the heartbreaking decision that they can no longer care for them, or because they have experienced neglect, mistreatment or abandonment.
Ten Marathons in 2025
In 2025 alone, Lorraine completed an incredible ten marathons, including the prestigious New York Marathon. Inspired by Phoenix, a two-year-old rescue dog who arrived at Jerry Green Dog Rescue severely malnourished and in a near-fatal condition, Lorraine dedicated one of her personal-best marathon performances to his recovery, helping raise more than £7,000 for Phoenix and other dogs requiring specialist care.
Volunteer and Advocate
Away from her fundraising challenges, Lorraine is also a dedicated volunteer for Jerry Green Dog Rescue. She regularly gives her time to support the charity in practical ways and is a passionate advocate for rescue dogs, using both her personal and business social media platforms to share dogs looking for homes. By helping their stories reach thousands more people, Lorraine has played an important role in giving many dogs a greater chance of finding their forever families.
Impact Over 15 Years
Over more than 15 years, Lorraine's fundraising, volunteering and tireless advocacy have made a lasting impact on the charity, resulting in more than £50,000 being raised while helping countless dogs find the loving homes they deserve.
Chief Executive's Praise
Christina Marriott, chief executive of Jerry Green Dog Rescue, said: "Lorraine is one of those truly remarkable people whose commitment never wavers. She has spent more than 15 years pushing herself to extraordinary physical challenges, helping ensure that every dog who comes into our care receives the support they need and the chance to find a safe, loving home.
"To raise more than £50,000 through sheer determination, resilience and compassion is an incredible achievement in itself. We are absolutely delighted that Lorraine has been invited to attend the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Make a Difference Awards."
"Regardless of the outcome, we are immensely proud to see her dedication recognised alongside so many inspiring people from across Lincolnshire."

Lorraine's fundraising has helped countless dogs receive the care, rehabilitation and love they need before finding safe, loving homes.
