More than 100 staff from housebuilder Miller Homes’ East Midlands region have swapped hard hats for hiking boots to take part in a month-long walking challenge raising funds for charity.
Active April Initiative
The team joined the company-wide 'Active April' initiative in support of regional charity partner Cancer Research UK, with additional support for national charity partner Groundwork UK. Employees were rewarded with a £1 donation from head office for every mile walked during April, up to a 10,000-mile cap.
East Midlands Leads the Way
The East Midlands team led the way across all 11 of the company’s regions, with 104 employees walking a combined total of 13,276 miles. Across the whole organisation, staff clocked up more than 105,000 miles. In recognition of the effort, Miller Homes has donated £10,000 to be split between its two charity partners.
Team Spirit and Community Impact
Tom Roberts, regional operations director for the East Midlands, praised the team’s commitment, highlighting both the fundraising success and the enthusiasm for staying active while supporting good causes. He said: “I'm really proud of the East Midlands team who have walked further than any other region within the business for the 2026 campaign, which is a testament to the entire group we have here. We know our hard-earned miles, translated into £10,000 for charity, will go towards helping both Cancer Research UK and Groundwork UK to achieve their goals in turn.”
Walking Across Borders
Staff took part in walking routes across the region and beyond, including a group completing miles while walking through Kraków to contribute to the challenge. The initiative forms part of the company’s ongoing community and charity programme across its developments in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
