As the post-Christmas slump and the notorious Blue Monday loom, a North East charity has unveiled a vibrant new event designed to inject some fun into January. The Sunshine Fund is launching its inaugural Crazy Golf Day, promising to swap office spreadsheets for surreal sporting shenanigans.
A New Twist on Charity Fundraising
The brand new event will take place on Thursday, January 29, at the popular Junkyard Golf Club in Newcastle. Supported by the business software firm Sage, the day reimagines the traditional charity golf day format with a playful, unconventional twist. It is pitched as an ideal team-building exercise to fulfil Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals, or as a lively opportunity for professionals to network in a relaxed setting.
Organisers promise an escape from the mundane, offering a chance to trade overtime for over-the-top fun, whether attendees are enjoying a late festive celebration or sticking to a 'tee-total' January.
What Your Ticket Includes
Booking is available via a dedicated link (https://bit.ly/crazygolfday), with more information on The Sunshine Fund's website. Each ticket grants access to 18 holes across two of Junkyard's chaotic indoor courses. Participants will also receive a soft drink voucher, and a portion of the ticket price acts as a charitable donation. This donation directly supports North East children living with disabilities.
As a reward for embracing the eccentricity, all golfers earn entry to the official after-party, dubbed 'The 19th Hole', at Bar52 from 6pm. This celebration is open to all teams and will feature games, drinks, and further socialising.
Two Sessions to Choose From
With slots in a January sale, two sessions remain available for booking. The 'Morning Mixer' runs from 10:30am to 12:30pm and is perfect for individuals, friends, or family groups. Tickets for this session are priced at just £10 per person.
"For those looking to network, we'll assign teams randomly," explains the charity. "It's a fantastic way to break the ice in a fun, interactive, and slightly competitive environment." The morning session also includes complimentary hot drinks provided by the Maldron Hotel.
The lunchtime session, from 1pm to 3pm, is tailored for pre-formed teams. Companies can book a team of up to six people for a reduced rate of £98 per team. This offers a perfect excuse for an extended, purpose-driven lunch break that combines staff bonding with meaningful charitable contribution.
