The North Kesteven community is preparing to come together once more for an afternoon of quiet reflection and solidarity. The annual Snowdrop Event, a cherished occasion for remembrance, is scheduled to return to Whisby Nature Park on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
A Peaceful Afternoon for Planting and Reflection
From 12pm until 3pm, the dedicated area at the Moor Lane site in North Hykeham will be open for attendees. Here, people can plant a snowdrop bulb in memory of a loved one who is no longer with them. The event is organised in a heartfelt partnership with the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.
For a minimum cash donation of just £2, participants can collect a bulb and contribute to a growing legacy. Every penny raised will go directly to Child Bereavement UK, a charity that supports families after the death of a baby or child, or when a child is grieving.
Chairman of North Kesteven Council, Cllr Chris Goldson, shared his thoughts on the event. He said it was an honour to partner with the Trust again to provide this important space for reflection, especially for those affected by child bereavement.
Community Support and Natural Beauty
Volunteers will be present throughout the afternoon to assist everyone with planting their snowdrops. The bulbs have been generously donated once again by Pennells Garden Centre in South Hykeham, ensuring maximum funds reach the charity.
Beyond the act of planting, the event is designed as a gentle opportunity for local families to connect with others who understand their journey. The park's natural trails and onsite bistro café offer spaces for quiet contemplation or a warm drink. Children can also use the park's play facilities, making it a supportive environment for whole families.
Supporting Vital Charitable Work
The proceeds from the day will fund the crucial work of Child Bereavement UK. This charity not only provides direct support to grieving families but also trains approximately 7,000 professionals every year. This training helps them to better understand and meet the needs of households experiencing loss.
The Snowdrop Event stands as a powerful symbol of the strength found within the North Kesteven community during difficult times.
