Pool Academy in Redruth is rallying the local community for a special evening of trivia and goodwill. The school, which is part of the Athena Learning Trust, is hosting a fundraising quiz night with all proceeds dedicated to supporting an upcoming student and staff expedition to Kenya.
An Evening of Fun for a Vital Cause
The event is designed to be a relaxed and enjoyable gathering for all. It is open to families, friends of the school, and any members of the wider public who wish to participate. The primary goal is to raise crucial funds that will cover the costs for those taking part in the Kenya trip, ensuring the life-changing experience is accessible to every student involved.
The quiz night will be held in the school's Main Hall on Thursday, 29 January. Doors will open at 5pm, with the quiz itself commencing at 5.30pm. The event is scheduled to conclude at 7pm. Entry is priced at just £1 per person, and participants are encouraged to form teams of up to eight people to compete.
Transforming Lives in Kenya and Cornwall
The funds raised will directly support the expedition planned for later this year. During their time in Kenya, Pool Academy students will engage in meaningful projects that aim to make a tangible difference. Their itinerary includes helping to construct classrooms, working to improve local access to clean water, and participating in wildlife conservation efforts.
This quiz night represents one of the many ways the school fosters student ambition, providing them with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to engage with the wider world. The academy hopes the event will successfully bring people together while securing the financial backing needed for this international adventure.
Community Spirit in Action
Mr Nick Ward, Principal at Pool Academy, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming community event. "We're really excited to welcome families and friends to our quiz night," he said. "It's a wonderful way for the community to come together, have fun, and support our students as they prepare for their Kenya expedition."
The evening promises to be a fantastic opportunity to test general knowledge, enjoy a sociable atmosphere, and contribute to a cause that will empower young people from Cornwall to undertake an unforgettable journey of learning and service.
