RRT Volunteers Serve Hot Meals at CEO Sleepout

Volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) supported this year's CEO Sleepout at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium by cooking and serving 60 free hot meals to participants.

Supporting a National Charity Initiative

CEO Sleepout is a national charity initiative that brings together business leaders and professionals from across the UK to spend a night sleeping outside, while raising money for charities supporting vulnerable people. Aware of the important role the event plays in highlighting homelessness and supporting those in need, local RRT volunteers were delighted to lend their support and help make the occasion a success.

Setting up tents outside the stadium, eight local RRT volunteers provided meals and refreshments to attendees taking part in the event, with the meals provided by the charity warmly received by participants. The RRT, which is made up of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, puts compassion into action by offering practical support to charities, emergency services and community organisations across the UK.

Community Commitment

The Middlesbrough sleepout is one of many community initiatives supported by RRT volunteers and reflects the charity's ongoing commitment to helping organisations that make a positive difference in their communities.

Speaking about the support provided by the RRT, Bianca Robinson, CEO of CEO Sleepout UK, said: “After waking up from a night outside, seeing the Rapid Relief Team's red tent with hot food and hot drinks waiting for participants made a huge difference. Their support helped create a real sense of community and encouragement at the end of a challenging night, and we're incredibly grateful for the contribution they made to the success of the event.”

Murray Johnston, RRT local team leader, said: “We were delighted to support this year's CEO Sleepout at the Riverside Stadium by providing hot meals and refreshments to everyone taking part. CEO Sleepout is a fantastic initiative that brings people together to not only raise awareness of the harsh conditions people living rough experience, but also to raise vital funds for charities supporting those experiencing homelessness. Together with volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church, we are committed to supporting our local communities. Whether assisting charities, emergency services or at community events, we're always pleased to lend a helping hand and play our part in worthwhile causes such as this.”
