Staffordshire Supermarket Staff Plan 13-Mile Charity Walk

Supermarket teams from across Staffordshire are uniting to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. The dedicated workers are preparing for a massive 13-mile sponsored walk to support Cancer Research UK. Colleagues across the region aim to help raise more than £300,000, building on the success of last year's event.

Event Details

The fundraising event will take place on July 1. A total of 800 staff members from across Central England and South Wales will put on their walking shoes. They will tackle 10 different routes as part of a company-wide initiative. The walking challenge is expected to bring together enthusiastic teams from 21 regions.

Organiser's Comments

Nicola McGuinness, from the organisation, said: “The scale of support for this year’s walk has been fantastic. Our community champions and store teams have put a huge amount of work into organising fundraising activity, bringing colleagues together and helping create real momentum across the region. It is a strong reflection of the dedication our teams show to supporting good causes in the communities they serve.”

In-Store Fundraising

Ahead of the July walk, local shops will lead a programme of fun in-store fundraising activities. These events will help raise awareness and encourage extra donations from the wider community.

Impact of Funds

All the funds raised will help the charity continue to advance life-saving scientific research. This work is vital for improving the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Anyone who would like to support the campaign or make a donation can visit their local supermarket branch.
