Starlight Walk at Capesthorne Hall Anticipates Record Participation
The annual Starlight Walk organized by East Cheshire Hospice is heading for an exceptionally large turnout this year, with more than 350 walkers already signed up for the event at Capesthorne Hall. Organizers have confirmed that there is still ample space available for additional participants to join the festivities on Thursday, April 16.
Event Details and Schedule
The memory walk will commence at 7:15 PM, with live entertainment starting an hour earlier at 6:15 PM. Gates will open from 6:00 PM, allowing attendees to explore the festival village where food and drink will be readily available. Walkers are encouraged to complete the 2.5-kilometer course as many times as they wish before the event concludes at 9:45 PM.
The route is adorned with lanterns, fire pits, and various points of reflection, creating a serene and uplifting atmosphere. Many participants use this opportunity to remember lost loved ones, while others simply enjoy the relaxing woodland and lake surroundings.
Organizer's Enthusiasm and Registration Information
Claire Gorton, the senior community and events fundraiser for East Cheshire Hospice, expressed her optimism for the event. "We were blessed with beautiful spring sunshine last year and hopefully it'll be more of the same again," she said. "We accept registrations until the last minute if there's space, but the sooner people can let us know the easier it is for us to plan. Our Starlight Walk is a vibrant, uplifting experience and we encourage everyone to embrace the festival vibe with lots of glitter and colour."
The entrance fee is designed to cover the basic costs of the event, so the hospice strongly hopes that walkers will raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship or make a generous donation at the time of booking. This fundraising effort is crucial for supporting the hospice's ongoing charitable work.
Additional Guidelines and Accessibility
Well-behaved dogs are welcome to accompany participants, adding to the community feel of the walk. However, organizers have clarified that there will be no fireworks during the event. It is important to note that the walk is not accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs due to the terrain and route design.
