£20k Reward in Sparkbrook Fatal Crash Probe

Detectives have launched a renewed appeal for information nearly five months after a young passenger was killed in a devastating late-night collision in Birmingham.

Tragic Details of the Sparkbrook Collision

The incident occurred on Stratford Road, near its junction with Ladypool Road in Sparkbrook, at approximately 11:50pm on Friday, August 1. The crash involved a black Audi A4 and a Vauxhall Meriva, with the Vauxhall also striking a parked vehicle.

Tragically, a 22-year-old man, who was travelling as a passenger in the Vauxhall, sustained fatal injuries. He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

A Substantial Reward for Anonymous Information

To help solve the case, the charity Crimestoppers has reiterated its offer of a £20,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and conviction of those responsible. This significant sum has been available since the early stages of the investigation and remains in place.

No arrests have been made in connection with the collision, prompting investigators to make a fresh public plea.

Detective's Emotional Plea for Witnesses

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, emphasised the human cost of the tragedy. He stated: “We continue to appeal for witnesses and would urge anyone who was there that night that have not yet spoken to us, to get in touch.”

“A local young man has lost his life and his family and friends deserve answers,” DS Hughes added, acknowledging that some individuals may be hesitant to speak directly to officers.

He directed potential informants to the independent charity Crimestoppers, assuring them of anonymity: “Crimestoppers have put up a reward of £20,000 to find those responsible. Speak to them anonymously. Any information that you provide could be vital.”

The investigation remains active, with police urging anyone with dashcam footage or any knowledge of the events surrounding the collision to come forward immediately.
