Armed police officers descended on a street in Rowley Regis following reports of a suspected firearm, leading to the arrest of a 23-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm and class A drugs.

Police were called to Rowley Village at 7:05pm on Thursday, July 2, after receiving reports that a suspected firearm had been seen. Armed officers conducted a search of the area and made an arrest shortly afterward.
The suspect, a 23-year-old man, was taken into custody and remained there for questioning on Friday afternoon (July 3). He faces allegations of possession of a firearm and possession of class A drugs.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Rowley Village, Rowley Regis, at 7.05pm, last night (July 2) after receiving reports of a suspected firearm being seen. Armed officers attended and carried out a search of the area, and a short time later made an arrest. A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of class A drugs and remains in custody for questioning."
