Armed Police Deployed to Telford Home Following Assault and Weapons Discovery
A 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 15, in Dawley, Telford. West Mercia Police were called to a residence on St Peters Close shortly before 1am following reports of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers discovered weapons inside the property, leading to the deployment of armed police as a precautionary measure. Detective Inspector Richard Davies addressed the community, stating, “I know that seeing armed police in a quiet, residential area may have looked and felt alarming.” He reassured residents that the incident was contained and posed no wider threat to the local community.
Injuries and Arrest Details
One individual sustained injuries during the initial assault, but these are not believed to be serious. At approximately 7:30am, officers entered the property due to concerns for the occupant's welfare.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
