A man was spotted on a wall outside the prison. Our reporter at the scene described him as being 'agitated' and 'shouting' at officers. She said: 'He is sat on a wall just outside HMP Birmingham grounds. As a result, roads have been sealed off in the vicinity and the public have been asked to step back.'
A team of riot officers are on standby in nearby Kirby Road. Police dog handlers are also in attendance. West Midlands Police have not yet confirmed the exact nature of the incident. BirminghamLive has contacted the force and West Midlands Ambulance Service for comment.
