A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a motorcyclist was left with life-changing injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Lickey. The collision occurred outside Blackwell Montessori Nursery at the crossroads of Old Birmingham Road, Twatling Road and Monument Lane at around 4.10pm on Friday, July 17.
Collision details
The incident involved a Triumph motorcycle and a white Ford Fiesta. The driver of the Ford failed to stop at the scene and the vehicle was later found abandoned on Monument Lane. The motorcyclist, described as being in his 50s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with life-changing injuries. West Mercia Police have since confirmed his condition is stable and he is recovering.
Arrest and charges
Within 24 hours of the collision, officers arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, failing to report a collision, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance. He has been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Police appeal for witnesses
West Mercia Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and for any CCTV or dashcam footage that may show either vehicle before the collision or during the incident. In a statement, the force said: "If you were travelling on Twatling Road, Old Birmingham Road, Rose Hill or Monument Lane around the time of the collision, officers ask for you to review your dashcam footage to see if you have captured anything which may help.
