Luke Mamczur, 24, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was assaulted in a Poundland store on Friday, July 10. He also faces charges of committing an offence with the intention of committing a sexual offence and possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place.

Incident at Poundland

Staffordshire Police officers responded to reports of an assault at the Poundland on High Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, at approximately 5:35 pm on July 10. The victim, a woman, was taken to hospital and later discharged.

Court appearance

Mamczur was scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday, July 13. A force spokesperson confirmed the charges, stating: "A man has been charged with attempted murder and other offences after a woman was assaulted in Newcastle-under-Lyme."
