A Co-operative Food store on Quinton Road West in Birmingham remains closed today after a man was left fighting for his life following a serious incident.
A cordon erected yesterday afternoon outside the shop was still in place on Wednesday, August 19. Around a dozen police officers were spotted outside the store on Tuesday after a man was found by police with serious leg injuries.
Man found with critical injuries
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the man had been in a 'critical condition'. An ambulance, critical care paramedic and a Midlands Air Ambulance responded to the scene after being called at 4.18pm yesterday.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to Quinton Road West, Quinton, at 4.18pm yesterday. An ambulance, critical care paramedic and a Midlands Air Ambulance responded to the scene. Crews arrived to find a man in a critical condition being given treatment by police colleagues."
Ambulance staff administered advanced trauma care before the man was conveyed on blue lights and sirens to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in a critical condition.
Police investigation underway
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were called after a man was found with serious leg injuries in Quinton Road West at around 4.15pm. We're in the early stages of our enquiries and anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or call 101, and quote log 3882 of August 18."
The scene remained in place this morning, with the Co-operative Food store on Quinton Road West still closed to customers. Police and paramedics were at the scene outside the Co-op along Quinton Road West.
