Orville Tulloch, a 61-year-old Birmingham man described as the 'world's unluckiest man', is facing jail after being convicted of drug dealing and assaulting a police officer. West Midlands Police officers interrupted a suspected drug deal in Birmingham city centre on January 15, 2026, leading to his arrest.
Details of the Offences
During the incident, Tulloch was found in possession of heroin and cocaine. As officers approached, he attempted to flee and destroy the drugs, punching an officer in the chest in the process. He was subsequently charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and assaulting an emergency worker.
Further charges included possession of mamba with intent to supply and possession of a meat cleaver in the city centre the previous month. Tulloch denied all charges, claiming he had been framed, which led prosecutors to question whether he was the unluckiest man in the world after being found twice with drugs that he alleged were not his.
Trial and Conviction
Following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Tulloch, of Offenham Covert, Kings Norton, was found guilty on all counts on July 17. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
Pc Victoria Gaunt, from the Operation Fearless team that carried out the arrests, stated: “Our team follow their instincts and are skilled in spotting the signs of drug dealing. Despite claiming the drugs weren’t his, the jury saw through his denials, and it was clear he was involved in supplying drugs. He showed how dangerous he was by carrying a weapon and assaulting a police officer, and we are pleased he has been brought to justice.”
