Birmingham Man Gets Community Order for Supermarket Assault

Michael Miah, a 49-year-old father from Small Heath, has been sentenced to an 18-month community order for assaulting his ex-wife in a Birmingham supermarket car park. The incident occurred on August 26, 2024, when Miah followed his ex-partner into a supermarket and confronted her outside.

Details of the Assault

Prosecutor Alexandra Youster told Birmingham Magistrates' Court that Miah filmed his ex-wife and shouted, "This is the slag prostitute," before slamming her car door shut and punching her in the face. The victim sustained cuts to her nose and under her eye and lost consciousness for one to two minutes.

Victim Impact

In a victim impact statement, the woman said, "The verbal abuse was as bad as the physical assault." The court heard that Miah has nine convictions for 14 offences, including previous violence and harassment. He is unemployed and receives approximately £800 per month in benefits. He also suffers from serious heart and lung conditions.
