Two men from Birmingham have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a violent disorder in Wolverhampton that involved a machete and a sword. The incident occurred on 15 July 2023, when a large group gathered in the All Saints area of the city.
Details of the Disorder
Police were called to reports of a disturbance involving around 30 people. Officers found that weapons, including a machete and a sword, had been used during the altercation. The disorder was captured on CCTV, which helped identify the offenders.
Ashley Simms, 22, of no fixed address but from Birmingham, was seen on CCTV brandishing a machete. He was sentenced to 32 months in prison after pleading guilty to violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.
Kyle Hines, 23, from the Kingstanding area of Birmingham, was captured on video wielding a sword. He was jailed for 28 months after admitting violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.

Detective Constable James Bate from West Midlands Police said: "This was a terrifying incident for those who witnessed it. The use of such weapons has no place in our communities, and we are pleased that these men are now behind bars."
