Birmingham Attempted Murder Suspect Still Eludes Capture After Five Years
West Midlands Police are still searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged attempted murder that took place in Birmingham nearly five years ago. The case involves an attack on three men in the Digbeth area back in May 2021, which authorities are treating as attempted murder.

The individual in question is Ajay Soni, also known as Ajay Malhi, who is now believed to be 33 or 34 years old and originally from Harborne. He vanished from public view after police released his image to the public as part of their investigation. Despite numerous efforts to locate him, his whereabouts remain unknown, making him one of the longest-standing figures on West Midlands Police's most wanted list.
Extensive media campaigns have been launched over the years to aid in his capture. His image has been viewed more than 82,000 times in recent years, and he has been featured on high-profile programs like BBC's Crimewatch, including an appearance on BBC Crimewatch Live last year as detectives intensified their search.
Police Statement and Ongoing Investigation
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated, "We are continuing our search for the wanted suspect, who is also known as Ajay Malhi." However, with the five-year anniversary of the incident approaching, there appears to be little progress in tracing the suspect, highlighting the challenges faced by law enforcement in this prolonged manhunt.
