A drink-driver who 'didn't feel drunk' was seen swerving on a major Birmingham road in the early hours of the morning, a court has heard.
Dylan Kooner was heading home in his BMW via the Hagley Road when police found him over the limit on April 25 this year.
The 27-year-old, of Christchurch Close, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to drink driving at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, May 26.
Kooner, who appeared unrepresented and defended himself, told the court: 'I thought I wasn't that drunk. I didn't feel anything.'
'I didn't feel intoxicated at the time to tell myself that I wasn't capable of driving, so I just ended up driving and then going home.'
Before the offence, he was of good character and had no previous convictions.
Prosecutor Alisha Collins said: 'On April 25 just before 5am, police received intelligence about an intoxicated driver in a BMW. They have located it and observed it swerving between lanes.'
'They follow the car until it stops. They approach the defendant who was the driver of the vehicle.'
'He blew 59mcg at the road side and was subsequently arrested and taken into custody, where he blew a lower reading of 47mcg. You will be aware the legal limit is 35mcg.'
Kooner was banned from the roads for 12 months. This can be reduced by 12 weeks, if he completes a drink drive course, the court heard.
He was also told to pay a total of £253 to the court, including a £120 fine, £48 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs. He currently claims Universal Credit, but told the court he could pay the sum within 28 days.
Chair of the Magistrates, Mr Morgan, told him: 'You pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity so that affords you 1/3 credit.'
