Residents on Sterncourt Road were evacuated to a temporary rest centre at a nearby Harvester pub on Sunday morning, May 3. A large emergency services presence was also reported on Froomshaw Road.

Witness Account

One evacuee reported hearing a loud bang around 6:30 am. When he went outside to investigate, armed police instructed him to return inside. Within 20 minutes, officers arrived at his door and asked him and his partner to move to the Harvester pub.

Police Statements

Avon and Somerset Police issued an initial statement at 8:30 am, urging people to avoid the area. The statement read: "A cordon is in place as emergency services respond to reports of an incident at a house near Frenchay. People from a number of properties in Sterncourt Road are being evacuated as a precaution. We'd ask people to avoid the area at this time."

An update at 9:45 am confirmed: "Emergency services remain at the scene and are working together in response to this incident. Residents who are being evacuated have been taken to a temporary rest centre nearby. A cordon remains in place."
