12-Year-Old Boy Charged with Sexual Assault After Woman Seriously Injured in Birmingham
A 12-year-old boy has been charged with sexual assault and wounding after a woman was discovered with serious injuries at an address in Birmingham. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 18, and the victim, aged in her 60s, remains in a serious condition in hospital, according to police statements.
Details of the Incident and Charges
The woman was found shortly before 6:15 PM on March 18 at a residential location in Birmingham. West Midlands Police responded to the scene and launched an immediate investigation. Following the discovery, officers arrested a 12-year-old boy in connection with the assault.
The boy has since been formally charged with wounding and sexual assault related to this incident. Due to his age, he cannot be named legally under UK law. In addition to these charges, police have revealed that the accused faces separate charges for other alleged offenses.
Additional Charges and Court Appearance
Authorities stated that the boy has also been charged with intentional strangulation in connection with a separate incident last month, where a woman was confronted in a street. Furthermore, he faces a charge for a theft matter that occurred on March 18, the same day as the assault.
The boy is currently remanded and is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Youth Court on March 24. A West Midlands Police spokesperson emphasized that enquiries remain ongoing, and the force is providing reassurance to the local community amid concerns.
