A boy was rushed to hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Bloxwich. Emergency services were called to Ryle Street at around 3.50pm on Sunday, June 21. The youngster suffered 'potentially serious injuries' and was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital under emergency driving conditions.
Emergency Response
West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene. A spokesperson said: 'We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pushbike on Ryle Street in Bloxwich at 3.50pm, yesterday. On arrival, crews found a boy, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before he was conveyed under emergency driving conditions to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.'
Police Investigation
West Midlands Police confirmed the driver of the car stayed at the scene to assist with enquiries. A force spokesperson said: 'We were called to Ryle Street, Bloxwich just after 3.50pm on Sunday after a child riding a bike was hit by a vehicle. The boy was taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. The driver of the car stayed at the scene to assist with our enquiries.'
