Abusive Boyfriend Receives Five-Year Prison Sentence for Solihull Tower Block Assault
Jordan Herring, a 22-year-old man from Solihull, has been sentenced to five years in prison for a horrific domestic violence attack that left his girlfriend, Bobbie Goodman, with life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred when Herring threatened to kill Goodman before she fell 40 feet from a fourth-floor window of a tower block in Chelmsley Wood.
Survivor Recalls Terrifying Ordeal and Miraculous Survival
Bobbie Goodman, now 18 years old, miraculously survived the fall on November 12, 2022, despite suffering severe injuries including two collapsed lungs, broken ribs, a shattered pelvis, and a smashed spine. In a statement to police, Goodman recounted the terrifying moments leading up to the fall, stating, "The only thing I remember from that night is him literally putting me near the window, saying 'I will throw you out, I will kill you.'"
Goodman spent an entire month in intensive care following the attack and now walks with three metal pins in her hip as a result of her injuries. Reflecting on her survival, she told the court, "I am extremely lucky to be alive and to be honest I have no idea how I have survived what happened to me."
Court Proceedings Reveal Pattern of Coercive Control and Violence
During the trial at Birmingham Crown Court, evidence emerged that Herring had controlled Goodman throughout their toxic relationship, isolating her from family and becoming increasingly violent. The couple had gone on the run after Herring assaulted Goodman, leaving visible bruises on her eyes and neck.
CCTV footage captured the horrific moment Goodman fell at 11:22 PM, with Herring and his mother waiting over an hour before calling emergency services. Judge Simon Drew branded Herring a "dangerous offender" who used the tower block as a "highly dangerous weapon."

Herring was found guilty of unlawful wounding and coercive and controlling behavior but was cleared of attempted murder. Upon receiving his five-year sentence, Herring appeared disappointed and held up five fingers to his family in the public gallery.
