Cannabis grow discovered in Redditch house

A massive cannabis cultivation operation was uncovered by police in a Redditch house after they were called to investigate a reported break-in in the early hours of this morning.

Unexpected Discovery Following Disturbance

West Mercia Police officers rushed to a property on Oakenshaw Road in the Greenlands area at approximately 3:30 am on Thursday, November 27. The response was triggered by a 999 call reporting a disturbance and an ongoing burglary at the address.

Upon arrival, the officers were immediately met with the potent smell of cannabis. This led them to investigate further, where they made a significant discovery in the loft space.

Scale of the Operation and Arrests

Inside the property, police found a sophisticated cannabis grow. The operation consisted of up to 40 plants, with a detailed breakdown showing 15 to 20 mature plants and 20 immature plants.

In addition to the plants, a large quantity of cash and drug paraphernalia was seized from the scene.

As a result of the discovery, two individuals were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the production of a Class B controlled drug. Those in custody are a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s.

Ongoing Investigations and Public Appeal

Inspector Liam Bennett confirmed the sequence of events, stating the initial burglary report led directly to the cannabis discovery. An investigation into the break-in itself is also now underway.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward. They are particularly interested in any doorbell camera footage or CCTV from the area. To provide information, the public should call 101 and quote log number 38i of Thursday, November 27.
