West Midlands Police seized thousands of pounds in cash and a quantity of Class A drugs after stopping a vehicle in Bordesley Green on Saturday. The operation, carried out by the force's proactive crime-fighting team, Skybridge, targeted a car believed to be linked to drug dealing.
Vehicle Stopped and Searched
The vehicle was first spotted in Alum Rock before being stopped in Bordesley Green. A search of the car uncovered a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs alongside a significant amount of cannabis. Police dogs were called in to assist with the operation.
Following the discovery, officers conducted a search of a nearby address, where they found thousands of pounds in cash. The cash is believed to be linked to the drug dealing operation.
Arrests Made
Three men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Two men, both aged 41, and a 37-year-old man remained in police custody on Sunday morning, July 26.
West Midlands Police confirmed that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts by Operation Skybridge to tackle drug-related crime in the Alum Rock area.
Police Statement
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Three men have been arrested, and drugs have been seized by Operation Skybridge officers, who are continuing their work in Alum Rock. Skybridge, our proactive Birmingham crime-fighting team, were on patrol when they spotted a vehicle suspected of having links to drug dealing, which was then stopped in Bordesley Green.
"Alongside our Dog Unit, Skybridge officers carried out searches of the car where a large quantity of suspected Class A drugs were found alongside a large amount of suspected cannabis.
"Further searches of an address nearby also led to the discovery of thousands of pounds in cash.
"Two 41-year-old men and another aged 37 were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and are in police custody this morning.
"Skybridge officers remain in Alum Rock tackling the crimes that residents are telling us cause harm to the community. They're listening, and acting on any information provided to them."
