Police Launch CCTV Appeal Following Sexual Assault on Birmingham Bus
West Midlands Police have issued a public appeal for information after a girl was sexually assaulted on a bus in Birmingham. The incident occurred on the 11A National Express West Midlands circular bus route, which was traveling clockwise towards Acocks Green from Erdington.
Details of the Disturbing Incident
The sexual assault took place on Sunday, November 2, at approximately 5:15 PM. Authorities are now seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man captured on CCTV footage, whom they believe may have crucial information related to the case.
Police have released two images of the individual, describing him as white and appearing to smile in one photograph. He was seen wearing a black coat with the hood up, featuring what appears to be a Kappa logo on the right side of his chest. Additionally, he had on a white shirt layered over a black t-shirt.
Challenges in the Investigation
Investigators acknowledge that the CCTV images are not of the highest quality and that the incident happened several months ago, which has posed challenges in identifying the person involved. Despite conducting numerous enquiries, officers have been unable to pinpoint the individual's identity.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated, "We want to speak with him after a girl was sexually assaulted on the 11A bus heading towards Acocks Green from Erdington. The incident happened at around 5.15pm on 2 November."
