Police have launched a public appeal for information after a brazen thief stole cash directly from a shopper's bag inside a Birmingham supermarket.
CCTV image released in connection with theft
The incident took place at the Pak Supermarket on Alum Rock Road in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham. According to West Midlands Police, the theft occurred on Friday, December 12, at around 6.20pm.
Officers reported that the suspect approached another customer and dipped into their bag, removing an amount of cash, before leaving the scene shortly before 6.30pm.
Description of woman police wish to trace
Investigators have issued a CCTV image of a woman they are keen to identify and speak to in connection with the crime. The image, described as blurry, shows an individual with the following distinguishing features:
- Dark hair.
- A light-coloured scarf worn across her head.
- A black jacket.
- A beige handbag worn across her body and positioned on her left-hand side.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Recognise this person? We want to speak to them after cash was stolen from a shopper’s bag at Pak Supermarket on Alum Rock Road.”
