A Coventry man who threatened to snap a fellow passenger's leg during a racist tirade on a National Express bus has avoided jail. Darren Hanna, 43, from Coventry, pleaded guilty to assault by beating and assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty at Coventry Magistrates' Court on July 22.
Incident on Foleshill Road
The incident happened on a National Express bus in Foleshill Road, Coventry, at about 3.20pm on July 3, as reported by CoventryLive. Footage of the incident, which was widely shared on X, showed Hanna threatening the victim. He was heard saying: 'I will grab that leg and I will pull you down and I will snap that leg.'
Hanna also shouted: 'You are a f*****g terrorist, you f*****g p***k! You wanted to blow up this f*****g bus. Did you not? Did you want to blow up this bus?' Children were heard crying in the background of the video.

Officers arrested Hanna, who was later charged. At court, he was ordered to pay £100 in compensation, complete 200 hours of unpaid work, and undertake rehabilitation activity requirements for ten days.
